Tree of Hippocrates

The sculptor Adriaan Rees baptised part of Madeirapad (in Osdorp near Amsterdam) into Path of Kos where he planted this tree.

Inspired by the tree on the Isle of Kos where Hippocrates and his pupils met.
One of the tree branches turns into brains.

The material used is clay. First the sculpture was cut up into 310 parts, which were then hollowed out. The individual parts were joint together on the spot with concrete and iron.
